Clashes within the T.N.A., over the Opposition Leader post
A heated situation has erupted within the T.N.A. regarding the appointing of the Opposition Leader of the Eastern Provincial council.
This situation has occurred since two members of the party, who have contested from the Trincomalee District and the Batticaloa District have obtained highest number of Preferential votes.
Both EPRLF’s  Rasaiah Thurairathnam,who has contested for the Batticaloa District Under the T.N.A. and, T.N.A’s, Singaravelu Thandiyapothi, who has contested for the Trincomalee District,are expecting the Opposition Leader post,as they have obtained highest preferential votes from the two districts.
Under these circumstances, the Tamil National Alliance is facing a dilemma on Who would be appointed as the Leader of the Opposition.
