Chinese Defence Minister arrives.
Mr Liang Guanglie, the Defence Minister of the People’s Republic Of China, has arrived in Sri Lanka a short while ago on a five day official visit, from the Katunayake International Airport.

Mr Guanglie is the highest ranking Chinese diplomat to visit Sri Lanka, in the recent history.
Mr Guanglie, is due to have discussions with the Sri Lankan representatives, including President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and Defence Secretary Mr Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.He is due to visit the Defence Training College in Sapugaskanda, and the Panagoda Army Camp.He will also visit Galle and Hambanthota areas.
During the recent past, China has provided more than U.S.D. 100 Million for the welfare projects of the Sri Lankan Army. China has also provided U.S.D. 1.5 million for the modifications of the Colombo Defence Academy and for the welfare of the children of the police officers.
