Electricity cut off date is nearing
The Ceylon Electricity Board says that, as the water levels of the Hydro Power generation water reservoirs are dropping rapidly, a power cut should be activated if problems may occur in the thermal power generation plants.
Professor Wimaladharma Abeywickrama, Chairman of the Board says that, the Electricity Board has to bear a very high cost to generate thermal electricity.
Mr Abeywickrama further says that, at present, the water level of Kothmale reservoir has been dropped to 26%, while the water levels of Victoria and Randenigala water reservoirs have been dropped 19.9%, and 39.8% respectively.The water level of Rantambe reservoir is also dropped to it’s standard point.
