Fonseka is ‘on the fence’ for the next local government elections.
According to the reports, most probably, Mr Sarath Fonseka’s political part will decide not to contest in the coming local government elections for the provincial councils which are due to be dissolved in the near future.
As Sabaragamuwa, North Central, and Eastern Provinces are due to be dissolved and elections will be held, the party seniors have made Mr Fonseka aware that, he will suffer a major setback by contesting as a single party, without forming an alliance with other opposition parties.
However, since  they have not reached a decision whether to contest or not, there are discussions within the party, that, there is a risk of losing their role in the political arena, if they do not contest in the coming local government elections.
