More attention paid to develop all districts by the budget
Mr Wimal Weerawasa, the Minister of Constructions, Engineering Services, Housing, and Common Amenities says that, through this budget more attention is focused on developing all the districts including the districts of Northern  and Southern Provinces, while more money has been allocated for the purpose, through the budget.The Minister has expressed these views while participating in the inauguration ceremony of the renovation project of the mother and child clinics in the Kaduwela electorate today, which was held at the mother and child clinic building at Athurugiriya,functioned under the ‘Gama Neguma’ Development Programme
“There are 08 mother and child clinics functioning in the Kaduwela Electorate,at Homagama, Jayawadanagama, Athurugiriya, Thunadahena, Kaduwela, Hokandera, Watapotha and Battermulla. All these centers will be renovated at a cost of Rs 16.3 Million”.
Further expressing his views Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that,there were many problems prevailed in the mother and child clinics at the Kaduwela Electorate from a long time.Due to this, the public couldn’t  obtain an essential service properly. Now, this problem is solved through allocating money from the ‘Gama Neguma’ Development Programme, functioned under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Few days ago, steps were taken to upgrade the sanitary facilities in the schools at the Kaduwela area.As the people’s representatives, it is our duty to upgrade the facilities in areas like this, which are being rapidly populated.
The family Health Officers in our country is a group who are providing a noble service to the public.Their service is not admired at present.They are the only group of public servants who provide a great service to the public without being commercialized. We have taken steps to provide a house to the best family health officer of the world, who has brought international honour to our country.It is our duty to upgrade the living standards of the persons who bring honour to our country,at any field. In the near future, we will handover the house which we have constructed for athlete Miss Upamalika Who brought honour to our country by winning a gold medal” the Minister added.
