‘Saliyagama’ housing project handed over to the public.
‘Saliyagama’ Janasevana Housing Village of Oyamaduwa, Anuradhapura, Which was constructed simultaneously with the ‘Deyata Kirula’ Development Exhibition, was handed over to the public today, with the leadership of President Mahinda Mahinda Rajapaksa.
This Housing Village was constructed by the National Housing Development  Authority,on the instructions from Mr Wimal Weerawansa, the Minister of Constructions, Engineering Services, Housing and common Amenities,under the one million housing and human resettlement operation, based on the programme of providing  with an ownership of a  house to every family, according to the ‘Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma’ concept.
Saliyagama Housing Village which contains 51 houses with all basic facilities including roads, electricity and water,was constructed at a cost of more than Rs 21.5 million.
Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that, as the North Central Province including Anuradhapura District,have undergone a broad development programme by the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition,it is an admirable performence to provide the people of Anuradhapura with such a huge development, who have continuously suffered from the pressure of the war. The Minister also indicates that, since his ministry has constructed  2000 houses in the Anuradhapura District, simultaneously with the ‘Deyata Kirula’ Exhibition, many more development programmes were launched on behalf of the people of ‘Rajarata’.
“On the journey towards the ‘Wonder of Asia’,manipulated by the instructions from H.E. the President,the ‘Deyata Kirula, National Development Programme, is performing a very important role” the minister says.
