Because the government was able to successfully manage the international interference and the political leadership given by the President helped to put an end to the terrorism, stated by the Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse. He made these remarks during his plenary at the international conference on defeating terrorism in Colombo.
The support extended by the Parliament and public along with quick and strategic decision making was also key to this success, claimed the Defense Secretary.
He said that the conference will provide answers to the unjust accusations leveled at Sri Lanka by the West. He went on to say that the Air Force received special training during the humanitarian operation how to rescue civilians.
Diplomats and Military Chiefs from many countries attended the conference. Army Commander Lt General Jagatha Jayasuriya made the welcome speech.
