Sri Lanka’s foreign policy is under U.S. influence. Tamara.
Mrs Tamara Kunanayakam the Sri Lanka’s permanent representative of the United Nations in Geneva, suspects that,Sri Lanka’s foreign policy has been changed to be loyal to U.S.A. and the West. She also says that, she is worried about the shaky stand of Sri Lanka regarding Mrs Navaneethan Pillay, the U.N. Human Rights Commissioner.
” Mrs Navaneethan Pillay has actively contributed to draft the U.S. resolution against Sri Lanka, which was passed in the U.N.Human Rights Council”, she says.
Mrs Kunanayakam also indicates that, though Sri Lanka’s issue is not
officially  included in the agenda of the Human Rights Council which is due to be started on the 18th of June, most probably, there will be discussions regarding Sri Lanka, inspired by the N.G.O’s who are making false allegations against Sri Lanka.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Didn’t inform me yet about the steps that should be taken to counter such propaganda”,she said.
However, issuing a statement in this regards, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that,as Mrs Kunanayakam has asked for leave for 20 days from yesterday,Sri Lanka’s Deputy Permanent Representative in Geneva will lead the delegation during the session of U.N. Human Rights Council which will be commenced on the 18th of June.
Mrs Tamara Kunanayakam’s period as the Permanent Representative in the United Nations in Geneva, is due to be concluded on the 30th, while Mr Ravinatha Aryasinghe was appointed for the post from the 1st of July.
