According to the foreign media reports, Mr Trevor Manuel, the Minister of National Planning Commission of South Africa has faced an uneasy situation when he was unable to find out who is the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka. It appeared that, the confusion was whether it was Professor G.L.Peiris or Mr Sajin Vaas Gunawardene. This incident has occurred in a funeral ceremony of a South African minister held at the Kingsmead stadium in Durban, on last Wednesday. The Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry has issued two condolence messages for this state ceremony.One was issued by Mr G.L.Pieris, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, while the other was issued by Mr Sajin Vaas Gunawardene. Since the announcer was unable to find out who is the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka,Minister Trevor Manuel had to readout both messages during the funeral which was televised nationally.
