ශ්රී ලංකාවේ දැනට පවතින රෙගුලාසි අනුව ජාන තාක්ෂණය මඟින් ජාන විකෘති කොට නිපදවන ධාන්ය වර්ග බීජ ලෙස හෝ අහාර ලෙස රට තුලට ආනයනය කිරීම නීති විරෝධීය.
නමුත් පසුගිය දිනවල මහා භාණ්ඩාගාරයේ ඉහල නිලධාරීන් හා සත්ව නිෂ්පාදන සෞඛ්ය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ප්රධානියා (Link)එක්ව ගන්නා ලද රහසිගත තීන්දුවක් අනුව එසේ ජාන විකෘති කල සෝයා බෝංචි සත්ව ආහාර ලෙස ආනයනය කිරීමට අවසර දීමට සැරසෙන බව වාර්තා වේ. සත්ව නිෂ්පාදන සෞඛ්ය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ප්රධානියා ප්රධානියා ඩබ්.කේ. ද සිල්වා මහතා භාණ්ඩාගාරය විසින් සමාගම් වෙත මේ වෙනුවෙන් බිල්ලට දීමට නියමිත බවද සඳහන්ය.

කිරීමයි.
ග්ලයිෆොසේට් නැමැති වල් නාශකය යොදා ගන්නේ යම් භූමියක වැවෙන සියළුම පැල වර්ග විනාශ කිරීම සඳහාය. එම රසායන ද්රව්යයට ඔරොත්තු දෙන ලෙස ජාන විකෘති කල විට සෝයා බෝංචි පැලය පමණක් ඉතිරි වී අනෙක් සියළුම වල් පැල විනාශ වේ.

Independent Animal Studies Showing GMO Harm
Rats fed genetically engineered Calgene Flavr-Savr tomatoes (developed to look fresh for weeks) for 28 days got bleeding stomachs (stomach lesions) and seven died and were replaced in the study.
Rats fed Monsanto 863 Bt corn for 90 days developed multiple reactions typically found in response to allergies, infections, toxins, diseases like cancer, anemia and blood pressure problems. Their blood cells, livers and kidneys showed significant changes indicative of disease.
Mice fed either GM potatoes engineered to produce Bt- toxin or natural potatoes containing the toxin had intestinal damage. Both varieties created abnormal and excessive cell growth in the lower intestine. The equivalent human damage might cause incontinence or flu-like symptoms and could be pre-cancerous. The study disproved the contention that digestion destroys Bt-toxin and is not biologically active in mammals.

At a conference for the Russian National Association for Genetic Security (NAGS) in October 2005, a Russian research team shared preliminary results on the effect of genetically modified soybeans on rats and their offspring. The team led by Dr. Irina Ermakova at the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences found that the mortality rate of the offspring of rats fed genetically modified soy flour was six times higher than that of rats raised with feed from conventional soy. In addition, the surviving offspring of rats fed GM soy had significantly lower bodyweight compared to control groups. Dr. Ermakova claims her findings raise serious concerns regarding possible health risks to humans.
This study was just routine,” said Russian biologist Alexey V. Surov, in what could end up as the understatement of this century. Surov and his colleagues set out to discover if Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) soy, grown on 91% of US soybean fields, leads to problems in growth or reproduction. What he discovered may uproot a multi-billion dollar industry.
After feeding hamsters for two years over three generations, those on the GM diet, and especially the group on the maximum GM soy diet, showed devastating results. By the third generation, most GM soy-fed hamsters lost the ability to have babies. They also suffered slower growth, and a high mortality rate among the pups.
And if this isn’t shocking enough, some in the third generation even had hair growing inside their mouths–a phenomenon rarely seen, but apparently more prevalent among hamsters eating GM soy.
