‘ජාතික ආරක්ෂාවට තර්ජනයක් නොවන ඉඩම් උතුරේ ජනතාවට නැවත දිය යුතුය. එදා ආණ්ඩුවේ මතය එයයි. විශේෂයෙන්ම මම උතුරේ සංවර්ධනය කරපු කෙනෙක් හැටියට මම බොහොම පැහැදිලිව හිටපු මතය තමයි ඔහුන්ගේ ඉඩම් බලහත්කාරයෙන් තියාගන්න එපා. එවා ඔහුනට දිය යුතුය’ හිටපු ආර්ථික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය බැසිල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඉරිදා ලංකාදීප පුවත්පත සමඟ කල සම්මුඛ සාකච්ඡාවේදි පවසා ඇත.

What makes you think his daughters are his personal property? After they are adults they are free to marry whom they wish. That doesn’t have a bearing on their parents patriotism. There is nothing wrong with marrying Tamils either unless they are Wigneswaran or Sampanthan. There are those of us who joined the armed forces and even those who defied the Tigers to protect the country. I’d rather marry someone like Hon. Tamara Kunanayakam rather than someone like Chandrika or those sycophant media henchmen. Not because I’m Tamil too, but because of honesty and character.
