Sri Lanka is a country where not only Buddhism but other religions also coexist.If Buddhist Monks think they have the right to comment on the constitution, then other religious leaders also have a right to make comments. Buddhist opinion will be only one of many religious opinions. Let the Govt request opinions of other religious leaders as well and form the constitution based on religious and other interested parties opinions. Its very wrong only to listen to Buddhist Mahanayakes who themselves are unable to control their own flock and they now want to control the politics of the country. In the past these monks have been changing their opinions based on which party gave them more money and benefits. How many of these Mahanayakes and their flock truly follow Lord Buddha’s teachings? If the Buddhist Monks follow the teachings will they be running in Benz cars, sitting on thrones, smoking, drinking, womanizing, raping children etc?
Majority of Buddhist Monks are clean and away from Sins. Only a few monks like Ambara Dhamila, Rataweka Vijitha Mohomud and Heenatiyana Samita who go shopping
for Jadapalanaya do these sins. On the other hand, Catholic and Christian priests drink Whiskey, rape and molest children in large scale but those sins are covered under the white robes and never receives any publicity.
