එළැඹෙන 2018 වසර සිට ක්රියාත්මක කිරීමට නියමිතව තිබූ සුදු ඇස්බැස්ටස් සෙවිලි තහඩු තහනම අවලංගු කිරීමට කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලය තීරණය කර ඇත.
කෙසේ වෙතත් නිල් ඇස්බැස්ටස් තහනම ඒ ආකාරයෙන්ම ක්රියාත්මක කිරීමටද තීරණය වී තිබේ.
රජය විසින් ඇස්බැස්ටස් තහනහ් කිරීමට තීරණය කරනු ලැබුවේ පිළිකා රෝගයට ප්‍රබල ලෙස හේතු වන්නේ යයි සදහන් කරමිනි.
ශ්රී ලංකාවට ඇස්බැස්ස්ටස් වැඩි ප‍්‍රමාණයක් රුසියාවෙන් ආනයනය කරනු ලබන අතර රුසියාව විසින් ශ්රී ලංකා තේ සදහා තහනමක් පැනවූයේ මෙම ඇස්බැස්ටස් තහනමට විරෝධය පල කිරීමක් වශයෙන් යයි චෝදනා එල්ල වෙයි.
මේ අතර අදාල තේ තහනම ඉවත් කරන ලෙස ජනාධීපති මෛත‍්‍රිපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් රුසියානු ජනාධිපති පුටින්ගෙන් ලිඛිත ඉල්ලීමක් කර ඇත.
ඊයේ පස්වරුවේ මෙම ලිපිය යොමු කර ඇති බවද වාර්තා වෙයි.
